FLAIR¢ç Equine Nasal Strips

Protect your horse.

        Perform your best.

• Reduce fatigue

• Breathe Easier

• Reduce lung bleeding

• Recover quicker

How will FLAIR¢ç Strips protect my horse and impact performance?

• By Breathing Easier: Horses wearing FLAIR Strips spend less energy breathing in oxygen, which enables them to expend more energy on performing. Horses wearing FLAIR Strips have been shown to use significantly less energy (5% to 8%) during intensive exercise.

• By Reducing Fatigue: FLAIR Strips can increase horses¡¯ stamina allowing them to perform longer before becoming fatigued. Fatigue is known to contribute to breakdowns, such as fractures, bowed tendons and suspensory injuries.

• By Reducing Lung Bleeding: It is now well known that most horses experience some degree of exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) or ¡°bleeding¡± in the lungs during intensive exercise. Rarely is bleeding visible externally; it occurs in the lungs. Repeated episodes of bleeding irritates the lungs and can lead to inflammation, scarring and possibly permanent lung damage. FLAIR Strips are proven to reduce bleeding during intensive exercise, keeping lungs healthier.

• By Recovering Quicker: Horses wearing FLAIR Strips recover quicker after exercise, so they are ready to perform again sooner. Many trainers and riders report that their horses are more relaxed and focused when wearing FLAIR Strips.

What are FLAIR¢ç Nasal Strips?

FLAIR Strips are drug-free, self-adhesive strips that promote optimum respiratory health of equine athletes by providing improved airflow when your horse needs oxygen most. The Strips are constructed from FDA approved human medical grade materials, including a non-irritating adhesive. Each Strip is composed of three plastic springs that provide a precise level of force to help hold open the horse¡¯s nasal passages.

How Do FLAIR Strips work?

FLAIR Strips, placed 1.5 inches (3.8cm) above the opening of the nostrils, support the soft nasal passages and are clinically proven to provide benefits to the lungs. How is this possible? Unlike humans, horses cannot breathe through their mouths. This means that all oxygen a horse needs must come through the nasal passages. While some parts of the nasal passage are supported by bone, others are only covered by soft tissue. During exercise when horses breathe hard, the soft tissue overlying the nasal passages is sucked in causing partial collapse of the nasal passages. This partial collapse increases airway resistance and makes it more difficult to breathe. By supporting the soft tissues of the nasal passages, FLAIR Strips reduce airway resistance and make it easier for horses to breathe.

FLAIR¢ç Strips provide benefits for horses at all levels of training and competition, including horses that are intensively trained, as well as those that only exert themselves during occasional weekend competitions or trail rides.
