Caleva Mini Coater Drier:

The need for the antistatic unit in the pellet coater

THE PROBLEM

* Spray nozzles with almost any solution generate static electricity on the droplets of spray material as they are formed.
* In substantially metal equipment this charge can be carried away through the metal of the equipment.
* Much of Spray nozzles with almost any solution generate static electricity on the droplets of spray material as they are formed.
* In substantially metal equipment this charge can be carried away through the metal of the equipment.

FOR TABLETS

* The forces that the electrostatic charge generates onthe particles being sprayed are small.
* If tablets (and only tablets) are being coated then the strength of electrostatic forces compared to the weight of the tablets is very small and generally can be
ignored.

FOR PELLETS

* When small pellets are sprayed they have much less mass than tablets. In this case the electrostatic forces can have a significant effect of the way the pellets move in the spray chamber or stick together
* In certain formulations unless the charge is removed or reduced then the pellets will either tend to stick together or will stick to the sides of the coating chamber.

THE SOLUTION

* The antistatic generator generates in the chamber a stream of charged ions designed to neutralize the electrostatic change generated by the spraying process.
* This will remove or reduce as much as possible, the effect of the electrostatic charge on the small pellets.

The use of the optional anti static kit is recommended for all applications coating pharmaceutical pellets.
